The Land: An Adventure Play Documentary
An adventure play documentary.

Set at The Land, a junkyard-like "adventure playground" in Wrexham, North Wales, where children are free to climb trees, light fires, use hammers and nails, and do almost anything they want with whatever they can find. A staff of specially trained "playworkers" support the play, guided by the belief that kids are empowered when allowed to manage risk on their own, rather than being confined to restrained, unimaginative modern playgrounds that thwart broken bones but hinder emotional development. The film explores the distinction between risk and hazard, and the case for reintroducing meaningful risk into childhood play.
