Sarith Ou's narrow escape from the Khmer Rouge genocide in the 1970s took him on an improbable journey to small-town Wisconsin, where he became a leader in the local Cambodian and refugee community. Despite building a life in America, his past still haunted him. More than two decades after leaving, he returns to Cambodia, and with his new friend Roger, a Vietnam veteran turned psychologist, sets out to bring hope and education to rural Cambodia's schools while healing their own decades-old wounds. The filmmaker's first documentary, filmed in Cambodia in 2020.
