Chronicles the story of Isak Sass, a survivor of rape in a South African prison, where he spent 10 years and was raped multiple times by multiple perpetrators, contracting HIV as a result. Tells the story of that ordeal and his journey toward healing, interrogating the injustice of a criminal legal system that neglects its responsibility to keep those in its custody safe. Examines how prisons function as incubators of violence that reproduce the rape culture and misogyny affecting communities at large, situating Isak's story within the larger systemic and historical contexts of high incarceration and violence rates in places like the Western Cape, South Africa.
