The relationship between siblings Alejandro (18) and Rocío (13) faces its greatest challenge when their mother is unjustly imprisoned and they must become parents to their two younger siblings. As undocumented Honduran immigrants in Mexico, their right to live, work, and study is already under threat; what begins with good humor and a promise to keep the family together gives way to unexpected emotional barriers, gender-role strain, discrimination, and the inability to access education or enjoy their youth. As communication between the siblings begins to fail, they learn to believe in each other to find hope on the other side of the wall that threatens to separate them.
