Vision Portraits
Four artists impacted by blindness. Four different paths to the imagination.
by Rodney Evans78 minsClosed captioning available
A feature-length documentary chronicling the creative paths of blind and low-vision artists: photographer John Dugdale, dancer Kayla Hamilton, writer Ryan Knighton, and the film's director, Rodney Evans, who was diagnosed with the rare genetic eye condition retinitis pigmentosa in 1997. Told partly from Evans's own perspective, the film consists of four chapters profiling each artist and follows Evans's own medical procedure to restore his lost vision using cutting-edge technology at the Center for Vision Restoration in Berlin. A tantalizing meditation on blindness and creativity that opens new possibilities for facing vision loss. Premiered at SXSW 2019.
